This guide will help you fix the server not showing up bug in Valheim. While we wait on a patch update from Coffee Stain Studios, the only solution to finding a dedicated server is a manual one.
How to Fix Valheim Server Not Showing Up
Before doing anything, you need to make sure that your dedicated server is installed and updated by using our guide right here.
To ensure that your dedicated server starts regardless of its status in the game server menu, you need to do the following:
Copy the “start_headless_server. bat” located in your dedicated server folder to another location Change its name to “start. bat” and copy it back to the server folder Open the “start. bat” file in the Notepad
In the body of the file, you need to search and change three of the following lines:
valheim_server -nographics -batchmode -name “SERVERNAME” -port 2456 -world “WORLDNAME” -password “PASSWORD”
Put any server and world titles you want in the brackets. The same goes for the password, which should be at least five digits long.
Once the changes are done, you can save the “start.bat” file and execute it. If you did everything right, you should see the following line in the console: “Game server connected”.
Lastly, you need to manually connect your server to Valheim by following these steps:
Open your Steam application Select “View” in the upper menu Go to “Servers” option Open “Favorites” tab Select “Add a server” feature
Input your IP address into the line, including port 2457. This means that your line should look something like this: 192.168.0.1:2457. Now you can start your dedicated server in the same menu at Steam.
